A Minister of Culture passed by Les Grosses Têtes? It's possible. Roselyne Bachelot was appointed to rue de Valois, this Monday evening, to appear in the government team of Jean Castex.
Roselyne Bachelot is far from being a beginner in politics, even if she had put her career on hold since 2008, to flourish in the media. Already Minister of Ecology, in the Raffarin governments, then of Health and Sports, or even of Solidarity and Social Cohesion in the Fillon governments, she was several times elected MP with the successive labels RPR and UMP.
With Ruquier and Hanouna
In June 2008, Roselyne Bachelot gave up her seat as an MP and began a new career in television. Over the past ten years, we've seen her a lot on RTL aux Grosses tête by Laurent Ruquier, on C8 (formerly D8), notably alongside Laurence Ferrari and Cyril Hanouna, on RMC for a short-lived daily called 100% Bachelot, on LCI as a political expert but also on France Musique to speak lyrical art… She also appeared in the theater and in TV soap operas.
But her best recent role, Roselyne Bachelot held it on the sidelines of the Covid-19 crisis. As a former Minister of Health, criticized for her management deemed unnecessarily expensive of the H1N1 epidemic in 2010, she was recently interviewed by the commission of inquiry of the National Assembly. Blunders and laws
During her political career, Roselyne Bachelot has taken position, iconoclastic for her political camp, on several occasions. For example, she was in favor of homosexual marriage and the adoption of children by homosexual couples, from November 1998. She also accumulated declarations, perceived as blunders. Minister of Ecology during the deadly heat wave of summer 2003, she suggested to the French to "park in the shade". The Guignols de l'Info caricatured it repeatedly.
Among the measures it will have taken within the various ministries it has occupied, the hospital reform of 2009 is the most emblematic, and criticized. As Minister of Culture, not sure that Emmanuel Macron, who has become accustomed to cannibalizing his ministers in the rue de Valois on a subject he appreciates, does not leave him the means to carry out such an important reform.
