“On July 3, 2020, after a severe and prolonged illness, at the 99th year of life, the oldest artist of our theater, veteran, people's artist of Russia Alexander Alekseevich Petrov died,” the theater’s website said in a statement.

It is noted that he played in the theater more than 50 roles.

Alexander Petrov was born on March 24, 1922 in the village of Koroskovo, Moscow Region. In 1948 he entered GITIS, after graduation he joined the troupe of the Army Theater.

In 1980 he received the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR.
