The members of collective Metaphore. - Collective metaphor

  • This collective Metaphore is releasing this Friday a compilation of 64 titles produced by 64 artists already through Meta, their local association for the dissemination and sharing of electronic music.
  • The objective is to thank the participants in the online support kitty, while continuing to broadcast music despite the closure of the premises with the Covid-19 crisis.

A difficult but creative period. Metaphore collective, a Marseille collective honoring all currents, especially radicals, of electronic music, is releasing this Friday morning a compilation of 64 tracks, Ici danse le people Forgotten. It puts the spotlight on artists who have played in their local association, to try to save this place of celebration like no other.

“We had the idea for a while to bring together the artists who came to our house, but we were not sure how. With the Covid-19 crisis, we had to stop all our events, it was a big financial blow because we are completely independent, "explains Julie, co-founder of Metaphore collective.

"The opportunity to thank the people who participated in the prize pool"

A kitty of support was launched in April to try to save this place of meetings and musical sharing. Metaphore collective wanted to go further by also asking for help from these 64 artists. "They are above all friends, the human side is super important to us, and they responded. They are local, national and international artists, we wanted to put everyone on an equal footing, ”continues Julie.

Results 64 titles produced expressly for the occasion by these 64 artists "thinking of their experience at Meta, our local, which gives titles that are very eclectic, but with general consistency". The compilation comes out this Friday at 10 a.m. on Bandcamp during Bandcamp day. “To support the artists, they decided to take no commission on sales during these Bandcamp days. It was also an opportunity to thank the people who participated in the prize pool. It worked pretty well, but it is running out of steam a bit so we give it a boost. For a donation of 25 euros minimum, or more, the compilation will be offered to you, or 30 euros if it is sold independently ”, explains the co-founder.

Even if the local Meta is not considered as a club, Collective Metaphore does not plan for the moment to reopen, "no health concerns". But more intimate formats are envisaged, and with a little luck you will be able to come across them this summer in Marseille or around.
