Jason Segel signs his first series "Dispatches From Elsewhere". - Amazon Prime Video

Summer will be a show! Like everyone, we will appreciate the last time travel of Dark available on Netflix since June 27 or the burst of episodes of the new  Muppet Show , expected this summer on Disney +. Speaking of German series, we can't wait to discover the third season of Babylon Berlin on Canal + on July 6. As for the American series, we will continue to watch the successful reboot of HBO, Perry Mason , on OCS and enjoy our reunion with the Hargreeves family, the superheroes of The Umbrella Academy. And even if we had a lot of binge-watching during confinement, we can't wait to discover new shows… far from home, and above all, by the pool. Here are the ten new things we are burning to see this summer.

Stateless , July 8 on Netflix

After Mrs America , a new series on a very political subject produced by and with Cate Blanchett! Centered on four foreigners of diverse origins, all at the dawn of a new chapter in their lives, Stateless brings them together in an Australian immigration detention center.

Presented at the Berlin festival, this quality Australian production, co-created by Tony Ayres, Elise McCredie and Cate Blanchett, also deserves a glance for its non-linear and skillfully blurred script and the pleasure of seeing Yvonne Strahovski, Serena in The Handmaid's Tale , in an environment other than the Republic of Gilead, and Dominic West, the hero of The Affair.

Little Voice , July 10 on Apple TV +

This new production by JJ Abrams for the Apple streaming platform is an ambitious project in which we follow a young woman, interpreted by Brittany O'Grady (revealed in the musical series Star ), who is trying to break into New York. The original songs will be signed Sara Bareilles ( Love Song ), also producer of the series.

P-Valley , July 12 on Starzplay

Creation of Katori Hall based on his own play called "Pussy Valley", P-Valley follows the daily life of a strip club located in the Mississippi delta. Presented as a meeting in a music video and a film noir, each episode traces the kaleidoscopic history of the place where colorful characters pass through its doors, whether broken by life, hopeful or completely lost and his strippers who try to make ends meet and dream of a world beyond the limits of the Piggly Wiggly and the pawnbroker. If you were a Hustlers fan , this should be a great sequel…

Cursed  on July 17 on Netflix

Adapted from Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler from their own eponymous book, Cursed is a rereading of Arthurian legends. The series follows Katherine Langford, revealed for her role as Hannah Baker in the hit Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why , in the costume of Nimue, a young woman with a mysterious gift, destined to become the powerful Lady of the Lake. After the death of her mother, she joins forces with Arthur (Devon Terrell, known for playing a young Barack Obama in the biographical film Barry 2016), a humble mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin (Gustaf Skarsgård, Floki in Vikings )and deliver him an ancient sword.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels , July 23 on Canal +

Far from the original Penny Dreadful , the spin-off, still signed by John Logan, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels is setting its own course. Los Angeles, 1938. Tiago Vega (Daniel Zovatto), the Mexican police’s first inspector of Mexican origin, and his partner Lewis Michener (Nathan Lane) are charged with solving a series of ritual murders inspired by the Día de los Muertos ( Day of the Dead in Mexico). Taking place some fifty years after the original, the series shares with its elder a certain attraction for the occult. This spin-off seduces like Perry Mason by its atmosphere in LA Confidential and the performance of Natalie Dormer, aka Margaery Tyrell from Game of Thrones .

Dispatches From Elsewhere , July 24 on Prime Video

Dispatches from Elsewhere , Jason Segel's first creation (yes, the Marshall from How I Met Your Mother ) is inspired by the documentary The Institute (released in 2003). In 2008, the artist Jeff Hull launched in San Francisco a treasure hunt bringing together several thousand people, during which they discovered a false secret society, the Jejune Institute… Dispatches From Elsewhere therefore follows the fate of four characters (Jason Segel, Eve Lindley, revelation of this fiction, the rap and hip-hop star Andre 3000, member of the group Outkast, and the Oscar-winning actress Sally Field) in a treasure hunt in the footsteps of the Jejune Institute, a mysterious organization, which could be maleficent, directed by Octavio Coleman (the impeccable Richard E Grant, narrator of the series also). A well-barred trip halfway between Twin Peaks and Alice in Wonderland .

Lovecraft Country , in August on OCS

Adapted from Matt Ruff's acclaimed novel by creator of Underground Misha Green and produced by Jordan Peele and JJ Abrams, HBO's new horror series Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Black, a young black American (Jonathan Majors) on a roadtrip to the search for his father (Michael Kenneth Williams) and a place called "Lovecraft Country" in the southern states of segregationist America in the 1950s, where racism is as terrifying as the monsters, straight from the imagination of Matt Ruff, carpet in the shade. Something to shiver in summer!
