Kagoshima City announced that nine new people in the city have been infected with the new coronavirus.
Eight of them are one of a woman in her 40s living in Kagoshima City who was confirmed to have been infected on July 1, one family member and seven colleagues at work.
Kagoshima City is investigating the possibility that a cluster of infected persons may have occurred at a restaurant that serves customers in the city.
In Kagoshima prefecture, the number of confirmed infections was 21.
