The Hollywood mogul was convicted earlier this year of rape and sexual assault against two women. The court ordered the sentence to be 23 years in prison.

On Tuesday, New York Prosecutor Letitia James announced that Harvey Weinstein and his former film company board have reached a settlement with dozens of women who say they have been subjected to Weinstein abuse, the AP reports.

Can get seven million each

In total, this amounts to nearly $ 19 million, equivalent to approximately SEK 180 million, which will be paid out if the settlement is approved by the federal court. Those who state that they have been exposed can receive anything between SEK 70,000 and SEK 7 million.

“Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company betrayed their female employees. After harassment, threats and discrimination, their victims finally get some justice, "says Letitia James in a statement according to CNN.

Lawyers' criticism

However, the settlement is met by criticism from two lawyers representing several of the women. They call it "profoundly unfair" and say they should raise objections in court, the AP reports.
