At Mt. Ontake, which caused 63 deaths and missing people in the eruption six years ago, the entry restrictions on the summit of Kiso Town in Nagano Prefecture were lifted on the 1st. Regulations around the summit of Otaki Village will be lifted for the first time after the eruption on 11th of this month.

The opening ceremony held at Taiyo no Oka Park in Kiso-cho, at the foot of Mt. Ontake, drastically reduced the number of attendees due to the influence of the new coronavirus, and about 10 people gathered.

First, after mourning the victims and offering silence, a ritual was held in hopes of safety during the season.

After this, Mayor Kunio Hara of Kiso Town said, ``I do not know how many climbers will come due to the influence of the new coronavirus, but I still enjoyed climbing without forgetting the eruption while there were missing people. I would like to have it."

This is due to safety measures being taken on the route on the Otaki village side, which had only been able to climb up to the 9th station, and the entry restrictions near the summit of Otaki will be lifted for the first time after the eruption on 11th of this month.

"I haven't been feeling that much since the eruption, but I want to have many people come because I can climb the top of Otaki for the first time in six years," said Seto Fumura, chief of Otaki Village.
