A day of class in a primary school in Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines), during the deconfinement. - Isa Harsin

The end of the school year is already tomorrow (well, the day after tomorrow). In any case for those who will fall between the cracks of the net of the device "learning holidays". A device provided by the Ministry of National Education to catch up on the delay in learning what has been learned due to the confinement imposed to stop the spread of the new coronavirus. And if some students already have their heads elsewhere, even their feet crushing the sand pies, parents are cheating. Especially those who have not sent their children back to school or college from June 22:

"If I don't put my son back in school - he is 4 years old - do I risk having my CAF cut?" »Perez

“If I don't send my 8-year-old daughter back to school, can CAF take away the back-to-school bonus paid in August? It is a rumor that is currently circulating ... ”Chauvin

Here are the answers we found:

You will understand, these questions are not new, it seemed useful to answer them to reassure our readers. Answers we got from the National Family Allowance Fund (Cnaf).

Conditions. First of all, with regard to the back-to-school allowance (ARS, of which Chauvin speaks), the Cnaf wishes to remind that parents must fulfill several general conditions to receive it at the end of August. In general, you must have one or more schoolchildren, students or apprentices aged 6 to 18, and not exceed a certain ceiling of resources (from 25,093 € for one child, 30,884 € for two children, etc., for 2018, excluding Mayotte). All the details are to be discovered here. Note: the payment dates for the allowance for the 2020-2021 school year have not yet been communicated to date (for the last school year, it was August 20, 2019).

The ARS will be paid, though. Then, as regards the period of deconfinement, and even if the Head of State, Emmanuel Macron, stressed that "the return to classes was compulsory from June 22", the Cnaf indicates that "the ARS will not be deleted for parents who have not returned their child to school ”. However, she specifies, "they will no longer be able to benefit from this aid if, at the next school year, the child is not in school".

What to understand: if the child does not follow an education (compulsory in France) in a public or private establishment. "As soon as home schooling is a choice of the family, it does not give entitlement either to the ARS, or to the college or high school scholarship," we learn. On the other hand, parents can still benefit from family allowances.

Report any change in situation. Finally, insists the Cnaf: “It is important to always report a change of situation to your CAF, because, when this change must revise downwards or cancel a service, the recipient will be obliged to reimburse an overpayment. To do this, you must go to your personal space on the caf.fr site.
