The Covid-19 epidemic has destabilized the economy. For farmers, the impact was varied according to their production and their outlets.

Market gardeners generally continued to sell but in some countries, labor was scarce. Many agricultural workers returned to their country because of the epidemic were prevented from returning at the end of the off-season by closing the borders. In Italy, at the height of the crisis, it was estimated that up to 250,000 seasonal workers could be missing.
