Regarding the evacuation order due to the nuclear accident in Fukushima Prefecture, the government is considering a mechanism that can be released without decontamination work in areas where the radiation dose decreases and residents do not live etc. In this regard, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has asked the government to consider specific measures for exposure.

Regarding the evacuation order issued in the "return difficult area" in Fukushima Prefecture, the country has a requirement that residents do not live in areas where the annual radiation dose naturally decreases to 20 millisieverts or less. We are studying whether there is a mechanism for canceling evacuation orders even if decontamination work such as removing soil is not carried out for the areas to be filled.

Regarding this, on the 1st, at the meeting of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, a person in charge of the Cabinet Office made a request for reviewing the cancellation mechanism in order to widely use the land from Iitate village etc. It has been reported that there are many places where the radiation dose has decreased naturally for more than 9 years.

Regarding this, the committee commented that "decontamination work is only a means. It is important to protect the safety and health of the inhabitants, and that area should be carefully examined." After that, we asked the government to consider specific measures for exposure.

The Cabinet Office intends to summarize the measures and show them to the Regulatory Committee.

Regarding this review, Governor Uchibori of Fukushima Prefecture has indicated that while decontamination is the principle, there may be exceptions that cancel the decontamination without decontamination in areas where a different method is desired.
