Workers' Claims for Medical Workers Over 300 New Coronaviruses July 1 18:01

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's summary revealed that by June 30, more than 300 healthcare workers had filed an industrial accident claim for being infected with the new coronavirus. Most of them are doctors and nurses who work at medical institutions where outbreaks have been confirmed.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, there were 433 people who applied for work accidents by June 30 because they were infected with the new coronavirus due to work, and 54 of these were recognized as work accidents.

Looking at the applicants by industry, 306 were the most medical workers such as doctors and nurses, followed by 51 employees at nursing homes.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has a policy of admitting occupational accidents unless a person engaged in medical treatment or nursing care is infected with the new coronavirus except when it is clear that the infection is caused outside of work, and a mass infection was confirmed. We called on about 100 medical institutions nationwide to apply.

Of these, by June 30, the total number of applicants was 242 at at least 37 medical institutions.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said, "We would like to continue to encourage workers to apply for occupational accidents at medical institutions that have had mass infections."
