Former actor Mário Frias, like his representatives, has no previous political experience, writes The art newspaper. During the 1990s, he was part of the soap Malhação, but has lately become mostly known as a Bolsonaro-positive writer in social media.

Frias succeeds Regina Duarte - also her former soap dish ice cream artist, who will now work at the cinema in São Paulo. Duarte took office at the end of January this year.

Minister of Culture one, two and three

Duarte, in turn, succeeded theater director Roberto Alvim, who had to leave after more or less plagiarizing a public performance by Nazi German propaganda minister Josseph Goebblels.

The banker Ricardo Braga served as Minister of Culture for just two months. Bolsonaro's first Minister of Culture Henrique Pires resigned in protest in August 2019 after support for films with the LGBT theme was withdrawn.

The Brazilian cultural budget has undergone major cuts under President Bolosonaro and on Tuesday, June 30, Mário Frias intends to announce his proposal for the country's cultural sector.
