"Unsolved Mysteries". From July 1st on Netflix
The documentary series “Unsolved Mysteries” tells about cases of mysterious disappearances, shocking murders and paranormal events that remained without explanation.
This project is a restart of the documentary program of the same name, which went on intermittently from 1987 to 2010 on different television channels (including NBC and CBS). For many viewers, the show is associated with actor Robert Stack, who has led it for over ten years. In 2003, the artist died. The authors of the new "Unsolved Mysteries" decided to do without a presenter.
“The Nun is a Warrior” (Warrior Nun). From July 2nd on Netflix
Once, a street kid Ava wakes up in a morgue. She was supposed to die, but her path had not yet ended: the heroine was brought back to life by members of the so-called Secret Order of the Cross Sword. In addition, the rescuers placed an artifact in the girl’s body, which endowed her with superpowers. Now Ava is invulnerable and knows how to pass through walls. By order of the Order, she enters into the struggle against ancient evil.
Ava will meet other warrior nuns, each with their own story. At the same time, the girl will not break the connection with the ordinary world and will try to build relationships with her peers.
The series is based on the comics of the same name by Ben Dunn. The main role in the film was played by Alba Baptista. The project consists of 10 series.
The Nannies Club (The Baby-Sitters Club). From July 3rd on Netflix
The comedy series Nannies Club is based on the popular series of books by American writer Ann M. Martin. The plot focuses on a group of teenage girls who decide to open their own business. The heroines look after the children for money, earn their first money and learn about the pitfalls that entrepreneurs usually encounter.
The project was directed by Lucia Agnello (“Very Bad Girls”). Alicia Silverstone, Shay Rudolph, Sophie Grace, Momona Tamada, Malia Baker and Xochitl Gomez played roles in the tape.
The Nannies Club book series includes 36 works by Ann M. Martin herself, as well as sequels written by other authors. The cycle was filmed in the popular 1990 series The Nannies Club. In 1995, a full-length film adaptation with the same name was released.
"Text. Reality". From July 3rd to Start
Less than a year after the premiere of the full-length film “Text”, an expanded version of the tape will be available online. Producer Eduard Iloyan said that the decision to create the series was made against the backdrop of the success of the film at the box office.
According to director Klim Shipenko, the series will reveal in more detail some plot lines - in particular, the history of relations between Nina (Kristina Asmus) and Petra (Ivan Yankovsky). In addition, the scenes shown in the film will now be presented in a different form.
The main character of "Text" Ilya Goryunov (Alexander Petrov) served seven years in prison on false charges. Upon his release, he accidentally kills a man to whom he owes his imprisonment. Goryunov takes possession of his telephone, which means photographs, correspondence and communications. Then the hero begins to communicate with the environment of his enemy on his behalf.
Curse: The Beginning (Ju-On: Noroi no Ie). From July 3rd on Netflix
The first short film of the Japanese horror franchise "Curse" was released in 1998. Director Takashi Shimizu later re-shot them in a full-length format and also made a remake with American actors. In 2015, the movie “The Last Curse” was released. Later, the authors released a crossover with the heroes of another well-known franchise - “Call” (by the way, the script writer “Call” Hiroshi Takahashi worked on the new series).
This summer, viewers will be able to see the prequel to the first of the feature films of the series. Its action takes place in a mysterious house. The hostess hires a paranormal researcher to understand the nature of strange sounds that she hears at night. As usual, in the past terrible events took place in the mansion ...
“Chased.” From July 6 to STS
The plot of the comedy multi-part road movie is centered around the large Osin family performed by Mikhail Trukhin, Olga Medynich, Artyom Fadeev, Vitaliy Kornienko and Alexander Bulatov. In their minivan, the heroes travel from Krasnoyarsk to Minsk, where a folk song contest will take place, in which the youngest daughter of the four Osins intends to take part. Over time, it turns out that this is not the only reason for the trip: the heroes have secret motives.
Kirill Tolmatsky (Decl), who died at the beginning of 2019, appeared on a cameo in the series. The heroine of Alexandra Kiselyova believes that it is the musician - her real father.
“Knock on my door” (Sen Çal Kapımı). From July 8th at FOX Türkiye
Florist Ed wants to get a good education and seriously pursue a career. However, the girl does not have money to study, and she applies for them to the appropriate fund.
Due to an absurd accident, she has to make a deal with the owner of the organization - a young businessman Serkan Bolat. To receive the grant, Eda must pretend to be Bolat's bride for two months.
The director of the project was Ender Mikhlar (“8 Days”, “Everywhere You Are”). The main roles in the film are played by Kerem Bursin and Hande Erchel.
“Flooding of Japan 2020” (Nihon Chinbotsu 2020). From July 9th on Netflix
Japan is destroyed by a series of strong earthquakes and volcanoes. A group of scientists cannot convince the government that the Japanese archipelago will soon go under water. At the same time, an ordinary family of four is trying to leave Tokyo to escape.
“Flooding of Japan 2020” is the first anime adaptation of the Sakyo Komatsu science-fiction bestselling book “Death of the Dragon” published in 1973. The events in the novel unfold in 1970, however, the authors of the series moved the action at the present time. It was originally planned that fictitious disasters would occur after the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, which were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic to 2021. It is still unknown whether the Olympic Games appear in the series, but the creators of the project removed the mention of them.
Brave New World. From July 15 at Peacock, from July 16 at Kinopoisk HD
The fantastic drama "Brave New World" is a film adaptation of the eponymous dystopian satirical novel by the English writer Aldous Huxley. The events in the series unfold in the future of London, when society managed to achieve peace and stability due to the rejection of the institution of marriage, privacy and money. People grow in incubators and live according to the caste system.
Linah Crown (Jessica Brown-Findlay) and Bernard Max (Harry Lloyd) set off on a journey to the Wildlands, where they find themselves in the center of the uprising. Aldous Huxley's novel was filmed twice - in 1980 by director Bert Brinkerhoff and in 1998. Then, Leslie Liebman and Larry Williams acted as directors.
The Cursed. From July 17th on Netflix
The plot of the series “Damned” was based on the novel of the same name by Tom Wheeler and Frank Miller, in which the authors reinterpret the legend about the sword of King Arthur. In the interpretation of Wheeler and Miller, Excalibur chooses not a king, but a queen.
The protagonist of the series is a girl named Nimue. She grew outcast due to magical abilities that scare everyone around. One day, the village of Nimue is attacked. The girl’s dying mother instructs her to find the legendary sorcerer Merlin and save the people. Nimue sets off on a journey. On the road, the girl meets a charming mercenary Arthur, tries to unite her people and avenge her family, and also learns the truth about who she really is.
The main role in the series was played by Katherine Langford, known for the projects “With Love, Simon” and “Get the Knives”. The screenwriters and producers including the authors of the novel. According to Deadline, it is believed that this is the first time that the same creative team releases a book based on this series, in which the characters are revealed in more detail.
