Shipment of farmed eels begins before "Doushi no Ushibi" Miyazaki June 30, 4:15

In Miyazaki prefecture, where the production of cultured eels is thriving, eel shipments have started this season ahead of next month's "Doshi no Ushi Day."

The production volume of cultured eels in Miyazaki prefecture was 3070 tons last year, the third largest in Japan after Kagoshima and Aichi prefectures.

On the 21st of next month, the Hidaka Eel Day in Shintomi Town, Miyazaki Prefecture, began shipping eels this season, and employees were busy catching land.

Two employees who entered the live basket scooped up eels that had grown to about 40 cm with a net and moved them to a table for selecting the size.

The pedestal had an elongated hole about 1.5 cm wide, and small eels were arranged to fall into the livestock, and only eels of sufficient size were placed in the basket and loaded onto the truck.

It means that approximately 10.5 tons of eels were landed in this farm on the 29th, and were shipped to wholesalers in Miyazaki city.

Akihiko Hidaka from “Hidaka Eel” said, “The delicious eels are growing smoothly. This time, many people, including those who are tired of the new coronavirus and those who are tired of the heat, will eat it. I want them to be energized."
