  • “We want to participate in the resumption of the live performance. But we still don't know if we can organize our festival. This situation is hellish but we believe in it ”, assures Michel Jovanovic, founder of the No Logo festival located in the Jura and in Brittany.
  • "We must seize this summer opportunity to find our audience, show them that they can trust us," said the festival's owner.

They don't give up. In Saint-Malo, the No Logo festival teams did not want to plant their 25,000 spectators. The reggae lovers' meeting which was to be held from August 14 to 16 has therefore been postponed by a month and should be held on September 11, 12 and 13 on the site of Fort Saint-Père. A risky bet but perfectly assumed by the Malouin festival which wants to encourage the State to rule, even in times of an epidemic of coronavirus. “We want to participate in the resumption of the live performance. But we still don't know if we can organize our festival. This situation is hellish but we believe in it ”, assures Michel Jovanovic, founder of the festival established in the Jura and in Brittany.

Monday afternoon, the No Logo teams symbolically placed a coffin in front of the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs, in Rennes, where it was written: “the show wants to stay alive. We can no longer breathe. ” A call for help but above all an alert to the State, a few days before the end of the state of health emergency announced for July 10. "We must seize this summer opportunity to find our audience, show them that they can trust us," says the festival's owner.

Earth Wind and Fire and Groundation Won't Come

If he managed to find a new date in his calendar, the No Logo had to adapt to several group cancellations scheduled for August but which cannot be present in September. The Americans of Earth Wind and Fire and Groundation, who were among the headliners, will not come, nor will the Australian Nattali Rize. "They were coming to Europe for tours but everything was canceled," said one of the No Logo team members. Instead, the programmer convinced Tiken Jah Fakoly and La Rue Kétanou to come and play in Saint-Malo. “There are a lot of places that don't know if they can do concerts. We are told nothing and we no longer breathe, ”says Alee, who has to play No Logo with her hip-hop project Al'Or, worn with Ordeuvre.

By being shifted in September, the Breton reggae festival hopes to benefit from a gauge of at least 5,000 people as authorized by the government until August 31. Pending further clarifications, the festival has planned to make two gauges of 5,000 and 3,500 people on each of its stages in order to slightly increase the capacity and hope to recoup its costs. For spectators, it will be necessary to pass through a buffer zone managed by an important security service.

"It will be restrictive but if it is the only solution to maintain itself, then we will do it," slips Michel Jovanovic. It remains to be seen whether the prefecture will accept it. The decision is expected during July.
