Despite the deconfinement (and the desire to finally get some fresh air), certain channels have managed to fare well. This is how France 3 and M6 recorded good audiences in June, while Arte has achieved a historic record by reaching 3% audience share, according to data published on Monday by Médiamétrie.

After record consumption during confinement, the French returned to a more usual duration of viewing TV programs, at 3:43 per person per day on average, all screens combined (20 minutes less than in May). Except for viewers aged 50 and over, whose consumption remains high at 5:26 a day on average.

Arte breaks its record

France 3 remains on track for May and has a good month in June with 9.6% audience share (+0.6 point over a year), boosted by its fictional evenings and its information meetings. M6 stabilized at 8.9% (+0.4), with good news and good scores for “Top chef” and its other shows.

Arte beats its historic record with 3% average audience (+0.4), a nice score to mark the departure of its president Véronique Cayla in early July.

The leaders TF1 and France 2 fell slightly to 19.3% (-0.9) and 13.4% (-0.3).

News channels on the rise

On the news channel side, CNews beats its historic record at 1.5% audience on average (+0.8), far behind BFMTV (2.5%, +0.4) but ahead of LCI which progressed strongly (1.2%, +0.4) and Franceinfo (0.6%, +0.1).

C8 remains very low at 2.4% (-0.5), far behind its competitors TMC (3.4%, -0.1) and W9 (2.9%, +0.4). France 5 remains stable at 3.6%. The Altice RMC Découverte and RMC Story channels are up 2.4% (+0.2) and 1.6% (+0.4). TFX was stable at 1.8%, like TF1 Séries films (1.8%, +0.1). 6Ter remains stable at 1.7% (-0.1).

The TV viewing time includes consumption on the television screen and Internet screens (computer, tablet, smartphone), live as well as deferred or catch-up. It is measured by the Médiamétrie institute with a representative panel of people residing in metropolitan France, composed of 11,509 individuals aged four years and over living in 5,000 homes, equipped with a device that records their choices.
