"La valse des Indépendances", a special broadcast by Vladimir Cagnolari

TP OK Jazz 1956. OK Jazz

By: Laurence Aloir | Vladimir Cagnolari

Invitation to a walk in stories and music. First of all for fun, and because the songs tell, like archives, the time when they were born. Before going through the two Congos (Kinshasa and Brazzaville) and Mali, the musical journey begins in Ghana and in Guinea, which first gained independence in 1957 and 1958, and made music a beacon capable of lighting up the new era that was opening for the entire continent.

In France, it's summer, and the next two months should be rich in celebrations (okay, probably in a modest version, with few people, masks and distances depending on the country). Yes, between June and September next, many African countries will celebrate their sixty years of independence. So we offer you a journey back in time in music, because music in their own way tells of this era, and as the wave of independence started a little before 1960, we too will start our journey in a pioneer country, Ghana , where Louis Armstrong will go.
