1. A second round of municipal elections marked by strong abstention
Polling stations in 4,820 communes opened this Sunday at 8 a.m. for the second round of municipal elections, organized with exceptional health precautions linked to the coronavirus epidemic almost three and a half months after the first.
One of the main issues in the ballot is participation, when less than one in two voters had visited March 15. And the first figures at 5 p.m. were not encouraging: participation amounted to 34.67%, against March 15 38.77% at the same time and 52.36% in 2014.
The suspense is important in some of the biggest cities - Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Montpellier, Strasbourg,… -, while in Le Havre, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe partly plays his future in Matignon.

2. Outbreak of coronavirus cases in the United States

3. Poles at the polls to elect their president this Sunday
The Poles, too, were called to the polls this Sunday to elect their president. Outgoing President Andrzej Duda, 48, is running for his second term in this key vote for his conservative nationalist government. Opposite, ten other candidates are in the running to replace him, but according to polls, it is the liberal mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski, of the main opposition party, Civic Platform (PO), who will be his rival during of the second round, on July 12.

4. BFM and RMC journalists vote to end their strike
A first for the continuous news channel. Journalist companies (SDJ) of BFMTV, RMC and other media of NextRadioTV had warned on Saturday that the second round of the municipal elections would not be covered this Sunday, due to the strike against a social plan, a movement which according to the management of "Not justify".
"We journalists should be present in dozens of cities, in front of campaign headquarters, on sets, in newsrooms, to tell you, decipher, live with you this high point of democracy. It is our mission. However, we will not fill it up, ”wrote the SDJs of BFMTV, BFM Paris, BFM Business, RMC and the digital editorial offices of NextRadioTV, in a forum published on the website of the Sunday Journal.
More information: This mobilization finally allowed the journalists to be heard in part: meeting in a general assembly this Sunday at 4 p.m., they decided to suspend the strike, after the management announced that there would not have forced departures before November 2021. 5. Olympique de Marseille is not for sale
“Olympique de Marseille is not for sale. The day after the revelation of a buyout offer made by the former manager of the Toulon rugby team Mourad Boudjellal, Jacques-Henri Eyraud wanted to clarify things.
