Federico Arnás leaves Tendido Cero . This Saturday's special program has been the last one he has directed, since in 2004 he took charge of the bullfighting space at La2, which turned 34 in April. The historic bullfighting journalist has worked on public television since the early 1980s. He has ended nearly 40 years of experience in bullfighting on RTVE.

Federico Arnás has said goodbye at the end of the program. Due to the state of alarm, Tendido Cero stopped broadcasting every Saturday. The broadcast in which Arnás has said goodbye was "special and punctual before the management of the public entity determines when normality recovers in the TVE work centers and in the programming grid", so the presenter will not be when the show airs regularly .

During the quarantine, Tendido Cero reappeared on the occasion of the centenary of Gallito's death in Talavera with a special edition in which, among others, the bullfighter Luis Francisco Esplá participated .

Arnás has always been linked to bullfighting information. At the beginning of his career, he made radio. He worked on Radio Cadena Española, which would later become Radio 5. He started on TVE with Bullfighting , a series directed by Joaquin Jesús Gordillo , the embryo of Tendido Cero. Gordillo, Fernández Román and Arnás himself formed the first team of the weekly program, the brand with which the fairs were broadcast on public television.

Arnás took over the direction of Tendido Cero in 2004. With Zapatero's arrival to the Government, TVE stopped broadcasting bullfights and the program remained the only bullfighting window on general television. With the PP, in a timely manner, the bullfights returned to the public channel. In June 2016, the last bullfight was broadcast from Albacete.

Tendido Cero is harassed by anti-bullfighters, who send complaints to RTVE and requests to remove the program from the grill. In fact, Arnás recently had to apologize after a guest called the environmentalists "new fool" and "quack" in a field report.

"We want to apologize if any of the terms used have been considered offensive by some viewers," said Arnás. But insisting that "it was not the intention". In addition, he stated that "all these terms have different meanings. Precisely thanks to work such as that of this cattle rancher, the protagonist of this report, there is a unique animal called a fighting bull."

With Arnás in front, Tendido Cero has received several awards and tributes. In 2007, the Vicente Zabala Bullfighting Fable Award from the Circle of Friends of the Welcome Dynasty, for his work in the "diffusion of bullfighting". In 2012, the Bullfighting Youth Forum recognized him as the best means of communication. Or in 2014 the José María Martorell award, from the Tercio de Quites bullfighting gathering in Córdoba. Also the Fernando Carrasco award from the Seville City Council. And in 2020 the Casino de Madrid recognized "the history and trajectory of the program".

In 2002 he joined the Belén Plaza program which, together with Carlos Ruiz Villasuso , present since 1990, forms the team with which Arnás has worked until this Saturday at Tendido Cero . The program has an average audience of 201,000 viewers, being one of La2's most watched programs.
