The National Financial Prosecutor's Office secretly carried out investigations to try to identify a possible "mole" in the so-called "wiretapping" affair. It is an investigation which lasted almost six years and whose existence has never leaked to the press. According to Le Point, the PNF investigated in vain, between 2014 and 2019, in particular via surreptitious investigations on tenors of the Paris bar, to identify the possible mole who would have informed Nicolas Sarkozy and his lawyer Me Thierry Herzog of the existence of listening that targeted them. Explanations from Nicolas Bastuck, editor-in-chief of the Le Point newspaper's company department.
