Five individuals are to be tried this Friday in immediate appearance in Lyon for masked face violence on the police. The facts date back to May 8, during the confinement. Following a call made on the 17th to report a marital dispute, police officers from Rillieux-la-Pape fell into an ambush, we learned today from the Sûreté du Rhône. The story, it seems, had been fabricated to lure them there, where thirty or so individuals awaited them.
At the time of their departure and after verification of the facts, which were "proven to be without result", the agents were attacked by these individuals, some of whom had their faces concealed. Insulted, they were also the target of projectiles, specifies the Sûreté du Rhône. Reinforcements were dispatched to the scene, including CRS, and the police had to use tear gas canisters and defenses to extricate themselves. The whole thing lasted an hour and a half.
Six suspects including a 14 year old minor
There were no injuries that evening. The investigation, carried out by the BSU of Rillieux, made it possible to identify and to arrest, Thursday at dawn, a teenager of 14 years and five men, aged 18, 20, 27 and 37 years
"All have denied their participation despite the presentation of surveillance video images and the discovery in their respective homes of clothes worn at the time of the events," said the Lyon police. The minor must be presented today to the juvenile judge.
