About 550,000 French people under the age of 25 experiencing financial difficulties received aid on Thursday for 200 euros. This payment was made automatically by the family allowance funds or the agricultural mutual funds without the beneficiaries having to make any move.

This action follows the announcement made by the government in early May on the need to assist the young people most affected by the economic crisis linked to the coronavirus.

Already a boost for students

The pandemic has indeed thrown many young people into precariousness. Health measures have in particular made it impossible to maintain the jobs that students occupied in addition to their studies to provide for their needs. University restaurants allowing them to eat without spending too much money have also closed.

Thus, 250,000 students had initially received a transfer of 200 euros at the beginning of June. This boost came from the regional centers for university and school works (Crous).

800,000 young people helped

It is now the turn of non-students to be supported financially. To benefit from this exceptional bonus, it was therefore necessary not to be enrolled in any educational establishment but also to be under the age of 25, not to study and to receive housing assistance (APL).

A total of 800,000 young French people will take advantage of government aid granted to mitigate the economic and social impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the most vulnerable. A global budget of 160 million euros has been released for a set of measures intended to help them.
