Three deaths on the coast in one day. This is the sad outcome this Thursday in New Aquitaine. Two people died at Ondres beach in the Landes, and a swimmer died at La Tremblade in Charente-Maritime.
At 9:45 a.m., the Etel Regional Operational Center for Surveillance and Rescue (Cross) was alerted to the disappearance at sea of two people, swept away by a wave while they were walking on the beach of Ondres (Landes) .

The Ecu 64 helicopter of the gendarmerie is engaged, and firefighters from Landes complete the device on land. The helicopter retrieves the two victims, a man and a woman aged around 70, taken care of on board by the Smur medical team. Their deaths were noted at 10.45 a.m.
In the Landes, five people have already died by drowning, since the end of confinement.
A group of six people in difficulty off La Tremblade
At 5:17 p.m., the Etel Cross was again alerted, this time due to several swimmers in difficulty, off Tremblade (Charente-Maritime). The Dauphin helicopter of the national navy, based in La Rochelle, was engaged, as well as firefighters from Charente-Maritime and a team from Smur.

While the first alert mentioned three swimmers in difficulty, it was in fact a group of six people who managed to return to La Bouverie beach at 6 p.m. One of them is rescued by witnesses before being taken in charge by the Smur medical team. "Her death is unfortunately noted at 6.30 pm, says the maritime prefecture, and the other five swimmers are taken to Royan hospital. "
The Atlantic Maritime Prefecture calls this Thursday evening "all practitioners of nautical and beach recreation to the greatest vigilance. "
