The I'm from Rennes festival hopes to be held in September despite the threats linked to the coronavirus epidemic. - Mip Pava / I'm from Rennes

“It was fed up with waiting that made us get started. Maxime Rezé does not go there by four paths. Under his cap, the president of Im from Rennes has been very, very, very much pondering these last few months to know if he could maintain his music festival in September. Before making the decision that seemed most logical to him. “We had set deadlines for ourselves. We listened to the speeches of the president, of the ministers, hoping to have answers. But we didn't have one. The festival was ready, we wanted to announce it, ”explains the president.

The entire team is well aware that its annual event could be canceled due to the uncertainties linked to the coronavirus epidemic. "We cross our fingers to keep it going, we're hopeful," shifts Cédric Bouchu, the programmer, before adding. “We have to keep the conviviality. If the protocols are too complicated and we don't have user-friendliness, we won't do it ”.

An enticing program

Without news from the prefecture or the city, whose services are on hiatus due to the municipal elections, the festival plans to welcome the public from September 11. The objective remains unchanged: to provide a stage for emerging local groups. “We are in our 9th edition and we can see that the Rennes scene is always so abundant. Every year, we have to put people aside, ”says the programmer. Last year, 23,000 people participated in the festival of the Rennes scene.

Apartment concerts, musical days in city parks and afters in the Parchment Theater, the festival's new headquarters, have already been announced. All that remains is to get the green light from the prefecture. "We hope to have it in early July," says the team.

This new edition, if it takes place, will in any case look great. Artists revealed at the last Trans Musicales such as the electro duo Atoem, the Songo quartet or the MoHican project are announced. I'm from Rennes will also display its share of new releases such as the rapper Lowdy Williams, who mocks the codes of American hip-hop, or the queer singer Vicky Veryno. We too cross our fingers.
