The department of Gironde is launching an appeal "to all those who wish to embark on organic market gardening and who would like to settle in the Médoc. "The community is indeed making eight hectares available, on the Nodris estate in Vertheuil," which can be divided into several lots according to the projects presented, to accommodate up to four market gardeners to provide local and quality production, and satisfy orders for the kitchens of the five Médoc colleges, but also local demand. "
In addition to the market gardening activity, the land will house a laying hen farm in agroforestry, a cannery that will allow the processing of products to preserve them, and a point of sale for the public.
On-site visits
This land is offered to trained people, with at least six months' experience in this sector. "But if project leaders wish to start without fulfilling these conditions, a period in the installation nursery can be envisaged before the completion of the lease" specifies the department. The proposed lease will be a nine-year rural environmental lease. Installation is scheduled for January 2021.
The domain of Nodris - which also hosts the Reggae Sun Ska festival - will also be a place of meeting and cultural creation "which should ultimately host both a music festival, a branch of the biblio.gironde network and Iddac - the Gironde cultural agency, artists' residences… ”
An on-site visit will be organized on July 8 morning or August 19 afternoon(on registration) and via a webinar on July 9 at 11 a.m. on the department website.
