The Pedro Sánchez government has found a location for two former ministers of the Zapatero era . The former head of Cutura, filmmaker and writer Ángeles González-Sinde has been named new president of the Board of Trustees of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, and Beatriz Corredor, who was Minister of Housing, new vice-president. Neither of them has a profile that links them to the field of contemporary art, as is usually the case in museum boards, governing bodies that have part of their purpose in institutional relations and in raising private funds for the operation of institutions.

Gónzalez-Sinde replaces Ricardo Martín Fluxá, who had held the position of president since 2017, and Corredor will replace Óscar Fanjul Martín in office.

Both have been unanimously chosen and proposed by the Minister of Culture, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes. at the meeting of the collegiate body of the national museum.

Sinde and Corredor will have to face the new challenges that the pandemic poses to museums and the museum expansion project, which will open in 2021 and whose works started just a week ago. The new space will host the most contemporary part of the collection.

Ángeles González-Sinde (Madrid, 1965) has a degree in classical philology from the Complutense University. Her career has been divided between cinema, literature and politics.

She has been Minister of Culture of the Zapatero Government between 2009 and 2011 and President of the Film Academy between 2006 and 2009. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the management entity DAMA (Copyright of Audiovisual Media) and was previously President of ALMA (Literary Authors of Audiovisual Media).

His career has been developed in the cinema and in the world of literature. As a screenwriter, she began a close collaboration with Ricardo Franco in 1993 and together they wrote La Buena Estrella , which won the Goya for Best Screenplay in 1997. She is also a theatrical author of novels and children's stories. With Rosanday, the art of birli-birloque won the Edebé Prize for Children's Literature, and as an author for adults, she was a finalist for the Planeta Prize with El Buen Hijo .

The new vice-president of Reina Sofía, Beatriz Corredor Sierra (Madrid, 1968) has a law degree from the Autonomous University of Madrid and property registrar since 1993, a deputy elected by Madrid and president of the Justice Commission of the Congress of Deputies. She is also non-executive president of the Board of Directors of the Red Eléctrica Group. A profile without clear links with the field of museography or contemporary art.

He has spent much of his career on the political scene. Between 2007 and 2008 she held the position of councilor of the Madrid City Council and counselor of the Municipal Housing and Land Company, EMVS.

In 2008, she was appointed Minister of Housing, moving in 2010 to the position of Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Actions, newly created and dependent on the Ministry of Development. Between October 2010 and December 2011, he chairs the board of directors of the Public Business Entity for Land, SEPES. In 2013 and for four years, she assumed the position of director of Institutional Relations of the College of Property and Commercial Registrars of Spain; and, between 2017 and February 2020, that of the Secretary of Territorial Planning and Public Housing Policies of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party.

She has been president of the Pablo Iglesias Foundation, between September 2018 and March 2020.

The patronage of the art center, as so often happens with the Ministry of Culture, is again a hold for politicians or former politicians awaiting fate .
