Eliminating about 1000 fire ants from the freighter at Chiba Port Promoting June 23 at 20:27

About 1,000 fire ants, including the queen ant, were found onboard a cargo ship from China that entered the port of Chiba, and the prefecture and Chiba city are in the process of exterminating them.

According to Chiba Prefecture, etc., fire ants were found on a cargo ship from China that arrived at Chiba Port in Mihama-ku, Chiba City on the 19th of this month.

During the landing of the cargo, a male worker on board was stabbed by an ant's arm, and a specialist analysis confirmed that it was a fire ant. Men have swollen areas where they were stabbed, but the symptoms are mild.

When the prefecture or city that received the report examined the inside of the ship, it found that about 1,000 fire ants were found in the luggage storage space, one queen ant with reproductive ability, and eggs and puppies were also found. This is the first time a fire ant has been confirmed at Chiba Port.

No fire ants have been found in the landed luggage or its surroundings, but the prefectures and cities are disinfecting them by placing bait containing insecticide around the luggage and conducting a survey to see if it has spread to the surrounding area.

Fire ants are highly aggressive and toxic, and they become active during the hot season, so the prefectures and others call for a specialized consultation dial without touching any suspicious ants.
