Female red is a general term for textile, embroidery and sewing made by women. With China's recent modernization and industrialization, this big craft gradually declined. At present, female red is no longer just a skill, but also contains unique cultural values, and it has become a window to see women's lives and emotions.

Miao Suqing, 37, is the one who opened the window. Miao has the meaning of silk winding; both plain and green can be the color of silk thread. Miao Suqing's name doomed her to become attached to silk thread in this life.

Born in a family of embroidery, Miao Suqing showed her love and perseverance for female red. "My grandma is a top embroidered lady who is famous in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. When I was a kid, I loved turning over boxes and cabinets to find the dowry embroidery she brought. I forgot the time..." said Miao Suqing.

After graduating from university, Miao Suqing went to the pharmaceutical company to do back office and drug sales. But she felt that this was not the way of life she wanted. In the early summer of 2015, she resigned resolutely and set up a personal female red studio.

Leather bags, cheongsam, fan, earrings... From embroidery to knitting, from patterns to styles, she began a new exploration of traditional aesthetics. Miao Suqing said that regaining the embroidery needle allowed her to see the best life in life.

But this is far from enough. She also wants to make the female celebrity skills known and loved by more people. Therefore, after the studio entered a stable period, Miao Suqing set out to promote the public welfare of embroidery skills. Now, she is a specially appointed teacher of the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts Xiangshan Campus and other institutions, tutoring thousands of people to learn this skill; she has also made the female red go abroad and shine at international exhibitions.

Two years ago, under the leadership of the local women’s federation, Miao Suqing visited Qinglong County and was impressed by the local unique embroidering method and the simple and diligent work of the embroidered embroidered woman.

However, the sudden new pneumonia outbreak interrupted Miao Suqing's plan to go to Guizhou to help teach. Looking at the booming “live streaming with goods” online, she thought of “live teaching”.

After more than a month of preparation, Miao Suqing set up a live broadcast stand and talked about the embroidery techniques of the bayberry brooch. At the other end of the video, more than 30 embroidered ladies in Qinglong County, thousands of miles away, listened intently.

This is a "poverty alleviation lesson" that is completely new. "To teach these embroidered empresses, they must not only make their stitches more delicate, but also retain the characteristics of ethnic minorities." Miao Suqing said that local embroidered empires study very hard in order to get rid of poverty and get rich, "There are also several young embroidered embroiders I often ask questions about how to embroider more delicately, how to make unique patterns, etc."
