[Poverty Relief Story] Small silkworms from poverty-stricken villages in Guangxi weaving Benfu Road

[Commentary] Pinghuai Village, Lingyun County, Baise City, Guangxi, used to have a backward and poor look. Today, Pinghuai Village has become the richest and most modern new rural area in the area. Recently, a reporter walked into Lingyun County to learn about Pinghuai Village. Get out of poverty and get rich."

[Commentary] When the reporter went to Pinghuai Village, he saw mulberry trees planted on both sides of the road, and the green mulberry leaves spread all the way to the flat ground and hillsides in the distance, as if they could not be seen at a glance. It is understood that Pinghuai Village is a big village for growing mulberry and raising silkworms. By the end of 2019, the output value of the silkworm industry in Pinghuai Village reached 16.32 million yuan, and the average household income reached 38,000 yuan. At present, 316 farmers in Pinghuai Village are involved in planting mulberry and raising silkworms. Among them, 45 poor households achieved poverty alleviation by planting mulberry and raising silkworms.

[Explanation] Yu Zaijian, Secretary of the General Party Branch of Pinghuai Village, introduced that when villagers started raising silkworms in 2003, due to lack of scientific breeding techniques, a large number of silkworms died, causing the public to complain. The financial turmoil in 2007 caused the silkworm industry in the county to collapse.

(At that time) the whole county dug mulberry trees for this industry (not losing money), and dig up all the mulberry trees. Our village developed more than 2,000 acres (mulberry trees) at that time. It’s a pity if you dig out this mulberry tree. So I brave the courage to contract these more than 2,000 acres (mulberry) alone. After the financial turmoil passed quickly after 2009, the people saw me (raising silkworms) to get money and wanted to take this mulberry land back. (I) At that time, I only wanted one person to be rich or not to be able to get rich. Only the rich in the village can get rich. (Behind) I also distributed this rented mulberry garden to our people, so today we have this mulberry garden.

[Explanation] Zhang Guilin, a villager who returned to his hometown in 2009 to develop the silkworm industry, now owns 20 acres of mulberry fields and 3 silkworm houses. Zhang Guilin said that now that the industry is up, you can get rich at home while still being able to spend more time with your children. This was something you couldn't imagine before.

I also fed 8 to 10 batches (silkworms) a year, and the average (one year) was 50,000 to 60,000 yuan (yuan). I think that the development at home is very good. If you go outside to work, even if you give your son more money , There is no such feelings.

【Explanation】In recent years, with the development and growth of the silkworm industry, Pinghuai Village has also become the richest and most modern new rural village in Lingyun County from a well-known poor village. Today, while actively optimizing and transforming modern silkworm agriculture, Pinghuai Village is also striding forward toward the goals of prosperous industry, ecological livability and affluent life.

(Now) Everyone who enters the village has a cement road. Every family has a new house and a small building has been built. There is a car in front of me. I feel like living here. More comfortable than in the city.
