China News Service, Xi'an, June 20 (Dang Tianye) "The seal is a unique historical and cultural product of China. After the Ming and Qing Dynasties, literati and scholars began to respect the artistic aesthetics of poems, books, paintings, and seals. Artistic value." Fu Haixiang, a seal carver from Xi'an, said in an interview with reporters that how he engraved the names of nearly a hundred cities at home and abroad on the Silk Road between them is something he has been thinking about.

A few years ago, in order to help the successful application of the "Silk Road: Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor Road Network", Fu Haixiang, Minister of Collection and Storage Department of Xi'an Museum and his colleagues began to organize the cultural and historical materials related to the Silk Road. When Fu Haixiang saw a map of the Silk Road marked with dozens of Chinese and foreign cities, he felt the grandness and hardship of the Silk Road and decided to engrave the city names on these routes on the seal.

"When I saw this map, I felt that the small red dots on it were like red seals, and I had the idea to seal the seals according to these place names." Fu Haixiang said, he engraved the first batch of seals 86 cities in 19 countries along the Silk Road, including Xi'an, Lanzhou, Dunhuang, Turpan, Rome, Venice, etc.

The reporter learned that these dozens of seals should have a unified style and unique characteristics. Chinese cities need to retain ancient charm, but foreign cities need to combine Chinese and Western. Despite years of experience in seal cutting, Fu Haixiang still struggles with his creation.

For Fu Haixiang, the domestic city name is relatively short, and it is relatively easy to carve. Because foreign cities have long names, the words "S", "Shi", "Er" and "G" appear repeatedly. In order not to duplicate the font, Fu Haixiang racked his brains.

"To create a work, you must first express your thoughts, and then you must determine a style. The seal is a small stamp that is sporadic. It is impossible to make it diverse. It must be improved and expressed from an artistic perspective. "Fu Haixiang told reporters that the seal seal needs composition, and the design is blank, blank, and solid, and the pattern needs to be constantly modified during the seal cutting. In many cases, it will even be overthrown.

The reporter saw in Fu Haixiang's office that in many of his works, the seal of the Greek capital Athens is particularly elegant. Between the two Chinese characters of "Ya" and "Dian", Fu Haixiang creatively engraved the Greek name of the city, showing the spirit of cultural fusion in his heart.

In recent years, with the continuous joining of cities along the Silk Road, Fu Haixiang has begun a plan to re-engrave. "Seal" proves that Silk Road is the name he gave himself for this set of works. Fu Haixiang said that when all the seals are engraved, he will donate them to the relevant museums. I hope more people can taste the thick historical culture and unique artistic charm of the Silk Road through these small seals. (Finish)
