In 2017, the 92-year-old Mrs. Su passed away, and soon her application for homesteads faced demolition, leaving millions of yuan in demolition, which was difficult to deal with for a while.
On the morning of June 16, the Ningbo Jiangbei Court successfully mediated the case. The supporter, Lao Xu, inherited half of the property, and the remaining part was retained by the village. It was distributed to the village elderly as a welfare during the holidays.

According to an official WeChat notification from the Zhejiang High Court on June 19, the 66-year-old Lao Xu is an ordinary villager in Shandong Village, Cicheng Town, Jiangbei District, Ningbo City, and has been a neighbor to the old lady Su in the same village for decades.
Mrs. Su was widowed in her early life, with no children and no daughters. She lived alone. Because he lives next door, Old Xu often helps the old people do what they can. As long as they make delicious food at home, they will also serve a bowl for the old people.
In the early 1990s, the old Xu family repaired the house. When they saw that the old man's house was in disrepair and had collapsed, he simply took the old lady Su to live with him.
Until 2008, the house of the old Xu family was demolished, and the old Xu paid money to Mrs. Su to rent a house in the village and often visited the elderly. Every New Year, he took time to visit the elderly. For decades like this, Mrs. Su and Lao Xu's family got along like relatives.
During this period, the government organized a land registration, because the old Su's house had collapsed, and the village had undergone demolition and reorganization. For various reasons, the old Su became a non-household.
With the passage of time, Mrs. Su's age is getting older, and her actions are becoming more and more inconvenient. In 2012, she gradually became weak and sick, and needed special care. Therefore, after discussing with the secretary of the Party Branch of Shandong Economic Cooperative, Hong Xuguo, Lao Xu sent Mrs. Su to the nursing home for an old age.
The cost of the nursing home is about 2,000 yuan per month, but the old lady Su's farmer's pension insurance is not enough to pay, and Lao Xu will pay for it on his own initiative. After being sent to the nursing home, Lao Xu often went to visit Mrs. Su to talk with the elderly and arrange all the life needs of the elderly. "According to the regulations, the old man should be brought up by his immediate family members, but because he has no relatives, he was brought up by Lao Xu. Mrs. Su also trusts Lao Xu very much, and everything is left to him. If the elderly nursing home needs him, Old Xu is also very cooperative and always has the same attitude towards the old man." According to Hong Qiuguo's memories, everybody in the village saw that every time Mrs. Su was sick, old Xu went to the hospital with his back. "Later, when the village went to the nursing home every year to condolences to Mrs. Su, she also said that Lao Xu was her son. She has been living all her life, thanks to the care of this good neighbor."

In 2017, the 92-year-old grandmother Su died, and according to local customs, Lao Xu handled the matter for her and purchased a cemetery.
As a lonely old man without a house in the village, Mrs. Su applied for a 40-square-meter homestead for building a house. Regrettably, soon after the homestead was approved in 2017, Mrs. Su passed away.
Because Mrs. Su had been the supporter of old Xu before his death, the village had no idea how to deal with this homestead, so he dragged it down.
At the beginning of this year, the area where the old lady Su applied for was facing demolition, with millions of demolition funds. Where do these millions of demolition funds go? The village was in trouble.
"The old man wrote an agreement with Lao Xu during his lifetime, stipulating that Mrs. Su’s prenatal support and handling of all matters will be borne by Lao Xu, and all expenses will also be borne by Lao Xu. All the property under the old name will be inherited by Lao Xu after his death. "Hong Qiuguo said.
However, at the time, the old people only had endowment insurance for landless farmers. In addition, the legal awareness of both parties was weak, and Lao Xu did not take it seriously. This agreement only explained related matters and did not sign.
"We all feel that we should give Lao Xu, after all, he took care of the old man for 30 years. But because Lao Xu is not the legal heir, and there is no legal document, he can't directly inherit."
