Iwate About 1,000 antibody tests including doctors and nurses No antibody possession 4:20 on June 20

In Iwate prefecture, which is the only country in Japan that has not been confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus, an "antibody test" was conducted on approximately 1,000 people, including doctors and nurses at prefectural hospitals. I found that there was no one. The research group analyzes it as one of the data that confirms the absence of infected people.

The "antibody test" analyzes whether or not there is a protein called "antibody" in the blood that is made in the body when infected with a virus, and checks whether it has been infected in the past.

Akihiro Nakamura, Director of Disaster Medicine Department, Iwate Prefectural Central Hospital, located in Morioka City, is working to investigate the infection status in Iwate Prefecture, which is the only country in Japan where no new coronavirus has been confirmed. We conducted an "antibody test" using the blood of approximately 1,000 people, including doctors and nurses in the hospital, who were collected during the medical examination.

As a result, no one had the antibody.

Dr. Nakamura said, "There was no person who had an antibody in the medical staff who was supposed to have a high risk of infection. It is unknown whether it reflects the infection situation in the prefecture, but the number of people infected in the past was almost zero. It is considered as one of the possible data, and it is analyzed as one of the data that confirms the absence of infected persons.
