In Libya, "there may not be a battle for Sirte," said Smaïl Chergui, the Peace and Security Commissioner of the African Union (AU). Since their victorious counterattack last month, troops from the Tripoli government have camped at the gates of Sirte and are preparing, with the help of Turkey, a major military offensive against the forces of Marshal Haftar, who still hold the city. For Smaïl Chergui, an agreement is still possible, in the coming days, to avoid this battle. Online from Addis Ababa, the AU Peace and Security Commissioner answers questions from Christophe Boisbouvier.
