DECRYPTION

How to get rid of cellulite? While this phenomenon affects almost 90% of women, especially on specific areas such as the thighs, buttocks or even the belly, there are several ways to get rid of it. Invited Wednesday of Without Appointment , on Europe 1, Dr. Marie Jourdan, dermatologist, delivered some advice to reduce the famous orange peel effect.

Play sports

Having a regular sports activity can be a good way to eliminate cellulite, confirms Marie Jourdan. "Weight gain, increasing the amount of fat, will increase the risk of cellulite. And if we tone the muscles, we will see less," she explains.

Take cold showers

"Anything that will improve venous return" can be useful against cellulite, assures the guest from Europe 1. Thus, "if every day we finish our shower with a jet of cold water, we know that tones and decreases the cellulite aspect a little. " On the other hand, she specifies, this solution "is not permanent", and it must be done "every day".

Massages

The "palpate-roll" technique practiced by certain estheticians is also effective. This massage can be "done manually or using machines that will be even more efficient". Cellulite will be reduced "by the drainage it will cause" and which will tone the skin a little. "The fact that the skin is thinner in women contributes to the fact that we see a little more cellulite. Toning the skin will therefore decrease it," says Marie Jourdan.

Are the creams effective?

Many creams supposed to eliminate cellulite are available in stores, but are they anyway effective? "They apply, but do not enter the blood," says Dr. Marie Jourdan, agreeing however that they contain active ingredients, such as caffeine. "When applied daily, there can be a small passage in the dermis, even in the hypodermis, and a small action of drainage of the fat cells", she indicates.

Cellfina, radiofrequency, several medical techniques exist

Several medical techniques also help get rid of cellulite. Among them, liposuction is often mentioned. "It will remove an amount of fat, so will affect the silhouette, the volume, but not on the organization of the fatty tissue itself," said the dermatologist, adding that the skin will then keep its padded appearance.

More recently, the "Cellfina" method is in vogue. With a needle, "we are going to break directly into the fat the partitions which surround the fatty lobules. We are going to aspirate and break with a needle this fiber which will go up the skin". Requiring local anesthesia, this technique can be particularly interesting for a young clientele and without sagging skin. A single session is necessary, but at a substantial cost: almost 3,000 euros.

Radiofrequency , it requires several sessions, between 4 and 6, which must also be spaced ten days apart. "We use an electric current that we pass through the skin to heat it very hard, tighten it without burning it. This technique gives very good results in the belly, but also works well on the thighs," explains Marie Jourdan . However, she still says, "it's still a surface treatment, the effectiveness of which will be mainly on sagging skin". A session costs between 200 and 500 euros.

Finally, the last technique uses microwaves, for an action even more effective than radiofrequency. "This energy will go directly deeper, and can go up to 1.5 cm deep and touch larger fatty tissue", describes the specialist. "We heat the fat very hard until destroying the fat cells, and then the temperature distribution on the surface will tighten the skin". This technique "gives very good results," she adds, and requires three to five sessions, spaced three weeks apart.
