The police had to intervene this Wednesday morning to disperse a crowd of 500 people agglutinated in front of a store which proposed a promotion on the PlayStation 4 console in Orgeval in the Yvelines.
From 8 am, the gendarmes intervened to manage the progressive influx of customers in front of the Lidl supermarket supposed to open half an hour later. "It was tense at the time of the opening, we hired 70 people to restore order and we had to repel the crowd," said the gendarmerie.

The brand, which regularly offers promotions on non-food products, marketed the PS4 at a price of 95 euros instead of 300. In the hope of benefiting from it, some customers had even camped outside the establishment. Broadcast on social networks, images of the crowd gathered in front of the store entrance show the use of tear gas, which "follows a jet of bottle on a gendarme," according to the gendarmerie.

The store was closed and the sale of PS4 permanently canceled. In the crowd, a person became unwell and a gendarme was injured by a jet of bottle. At 10:30 a.m., about 150 people were still there, authorities said, and the situation had returned to normal.
