As the national championships begin to resume in Europe, in Africa many leagues are still at a standstill. Some even prematurely ended the season because of the Covid-19. Here is a point on June 15, 2020.

THE SEASON HAS RESUMED

The Tanzania is the first national championship halted because of Covid-19 to be resumed on June 13

The Primus League of Burundi , it had restarted on May 21, after a month of interruption. But officially, Burundian football had put its activities on hold because of the general elections in the country. And not because of the coronavirus.

THE SEASON IS DEFINITELY STOPPED

The Cameroon decided to stop everything, which makes the happiness of the PWD Bamenda national champion for the first time in its history.

In Congo-Brazzaville , AS Otoho was crowned, taking advantage of a fixed classification.

In Congo-Kinshasa , the same situation where it was Mazembe who saw his name entered in the charts.

In Rwanda , the APR is champion. Heroes FC and Gicumbi FC are relegated.

Other countries: Botswana , Uganda , Togo

SEASON IS CANCELED

In Angola , it was decided on April 30 to cancel the Girabola. Petro Atletico is not crowned champion but will represent his country in the Champions League, with the Primeiro de Agosto.

The Burina Faso followed suit a few days later. No champion for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

In the Central African Republic , everything was canceled when the season had almost come to an end.

The Guinea has decided to freeze all: mounted or relegation.

The Niger also opts for a white season.

Other countries: Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Gambia, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Mauritius, South Sudan

THE END OF THE SEASON IS POSTPONED

In Egypt , despite one of the highest tolls on the continent (nearly 1,700 dead), the authorities agreed to resume training on June 20 and the Premier League on July 25. Some clubs, like Zamalek, have already expressed their disagreement with this decision.

In Gabon , we want to end the season even if we don't know when yet. Is a recovery in July-August realistic?

In Madagascar , the trend was for a resumption in August of the Orange Premier League.

In Mali , we are always determined to resume. However, the authorities have still not given the green light. And does not the positive test of a Djoliba player risk to cool the Malian fervor?

In Mauritania , an ambitious “rescue plan for the 2019-2020 sports season” was put in place with the aim of finishing the championship in September before starting the 2020-2021 exercise in October.

In Senegal , we expect to resume Ligue 1 around the month of November.

In Tunisia , we also know the month for a return to competition (behind closed doors): August. In the meantime, training has resumed.

Other countries: Eswatini, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Zanzibar

NOT YET FINAL DECISIONS

In South Africa , the drastic precautionary measures taken by the local authorities make it difficult to restart the season. However, the government gave the green light to resume training, under strict conditions. Hope therefore remains open for the Federation and the League.

In Algeria , the Federation and the League remain favorable to a recovery. The clubs will be consulted. But a return to Ligue 1 will only be after the lifting of the containment and a relaxation of the rules of assembly.

In Benin , the Federation decided to give itself more time, this June 15, before positioning itself definitively.

In the Comoros , hope remains, as the season is already near its end.

In Côte d'Ivoire , in addition to the health crisis, conflicts between the various players in football do not facilitate a return to Ligue 1.

In Djibouti , a screening campaign is being carried out by the Federation. On April 20, the latter and club leaders did not rule out a resumption of D1.

In Ghana , discussions are continuing. The Federation is still setting June 30 as the deadline for voting.

In Kenya , the situation remains very complex. The president of the Federation decreed the premature end of the Championship and the coronation of Gor Mahia without the approval of the League. The two bodies have been in conflict for several weeks.

In Morocco , the suspense is still just as unbearable for Botola fans, after three months of stoppage linked to the Covid-19.

In Nigeria , there is still no decision and the various players in football (Federation, League, clubs, sponsors, etc.) do not seem ready to agree.

In Sudan , no decision either. But the deaths of soccer family members from the coronavirus could weigh in the balance.

Other countries: Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique *, Namibia *, Chad, Zimbabwe *

* In Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe, the championship had not resumed before the coronavirus crisis.
