China News Agency, Kunming, June 15th (Reporter Hu Yuanhang) In response to the recently exposed “Red River Jiangwan Bridge Red River” on the Sino-Myanmar border, the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture Ecological Environment Bureau of Yunnan Province responded that: The redness is caused by the discharge of paper-making enterprises; after monitoring, the water quality of Ruili River is basically normal except for the dissolved oxygen, permanganate index and ammonia nitrogen value during the pollution period.

A few days ago, some netizens posted pictures and videos of the red water of the lower reaches of the Wanli Bridge of Ruili River, and the water body was suspected of being polluted, causing widespread concern. On the 14th, the Dehong Ecological Environment Bureau notified the preliminary investigation of the incident.

According to the report, after discovering the situation, the Dehong Ecology and Environment Bureau quickly organized professionals to conduct a comprehensive investigation of pollution sources on the Chinese side of the coast of the Ruili River and conduct sample monitoring of the water body. At the same time, the Ministry of Commerce and Foreign Affairs informed Myanmar in time about the situation, requesting to investigate the polluting enterprises and sources on the Myanmar side and notify each other about the situation.

After 4 consecutive days of investigation and evidence collection by the Chinese side, it was found that the river water in the lower section of the Wanli Bridge in Ruili River turned red, and the Wanhe River in the upper reaches of the Ruili River was illegally discharged by nearby paper companies. Due to the red production wastewater formed by the dyeing, the pollutants are discharged into the Wanding River and merge into the Ruili River, causing the river section of the downstream section of the Wanli Bridge in Ruili River to become red.

Dehong Ecology and Environment Department monitored the water quality of the Jiejiao Bridge from June 8th to 13th. The data shows that except for the dissolved oxygen, permanganate index and ammonia nitrogen value in the pollution period, the current monitoring indicators are basically normal, and the water quality remains at category Ⅲ.

According to the survey, there are paper-making enterprises in the border areas of China and Myanmar in the pollution source discharge area, and both parties need to strengthen management. After the incident, China has taken strict control measures against polluting enterprises and will deal with them according to law. (Finish)
