Medical News Today published a Canadian study that concluded that consuming more dairy products, especially whole fat, was associated with a lower risk of high blood pressure and diabetes, and the reasons behind these conclusions are being studied.

It included approximately 150,000 participants from 21 countries, spanning across Asia, North and South America, Africa and Europe, ranging in age from 35 to 70 years.

Participants recorded the number of times they consumed specific items from a menu that included milk, yogurt, cheese and prepared dishes from dairy products, with an average follow-up of 9 years.

The results of the study showed that people who achieved positive results consumed an average of 179 grams of dairy products per day, which is equivalent to just under one cup of milk or a cup of yogurt per day.

The researchers also found that eating at least two portions of dairy products per day is associated with a 24% lower risk of metabolic syndrome, compared to not consuming dairy products at all, while the proportion has risen to 28% among those who consume full-fat and butter dairy products, with an average daily consumption 3 grams.
