Robert Pattinson and John David Washington are featured in "Tenet" - Melinda Sue Gordon, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.

From June 22, all cinemas will finally be able to open their doors. The French will be able to rediscover the atmosphere of dark rooms (and the smell of popcorn) in front of films released before the confinement begins. But what about the news? Warner Bros. has not had good news for many of its most anticipated releases.

Christopher Nolan's next blockbuster, Tenet , was originally slated for July 17 in the United States and July 22 in France. Finally, it will take two more weeks, until July 31, to discover it across the Atlantic. For the moment, no new date has been communicated for the French territory.

"In recent months, we have kept Warner Bros. informed about our work to reopen theaters in accordance with government health recommendations, and we look forward to audiences enjoying Tenet in our cinemas around the world on July 31. Said the National Association of Theater Owners, which brings together most of the owners of movie theaters in the United States.

Matrix nearly a year behind

In order to leave the field open for global success at Tenet , Wonder Woman 1984 is also suffering from the coronavirus crisis. This film even succeeds in seeing its release date postponed for the third time. After December 2019, June 2020 and then August 2020, it will now be necessary to wait for the date of October 2 (in the United States) to discover the adventures of the superheroine.

These two films are not the only ones to see their release postponed. Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs Kong will be playing six months later than planned, starting May 21, 2021. It's even worse for Matrix 4 , which is almost a year behind. Originally expected on May 21, 2021, Lana Wachowski's film will not be released until April 1, 2022.
