Cissi Wallin's book "Everything That Was Mine" was planned for the fall. In it, she would tell "naked, honest and strong" about some of the most difficult years of her life, according to the publisher's material. But now the publisher has decided not to publish the book after a lawyer has reviewed the script.

“We decided early on that the script would have to go to a lawyer, but we couldn't send him until it was finished. A lawyer cannot make a professional assessment of a synopsis, ”writes Tove Leffler, publishing manager at Book Publishing Atlas to the Cultural News.

Critical to the publisher

In the fall of 2019, Cissi Wallin was convicted of gross defamation after accusing a named person of sexual assault. The person is constantly on the charge and the police had previously closed the preliminary investigation of the case. The naming, on the other hand, was noted, and has been described as one of the starting shots of the metro movement in Sweden 2017.

Cissi Wallin writes on her Instagram account that the publisher wanted her to write her "story about #metoo - the whole story.", But that the publisher will now not publish the book. Cissi Wallin believes that the publisher got cold feet after the lawyer of the person she slandered contacted the publisher.

"The risk of imprisonment is great"

The publisher himself writes to the Culture News that the decision is made after the lawyer Peter Danowsky has read the script and that they do not want to risk Cissi Wallin going to prison for slander.

“My belief is that this story could still be written without risking our writers being imprisoned. But that risk is great in its current state and Wallin did not want to work on the script. We haven't stopped the book, we wanted to continue working on it. I believe it would be irresponsible for a publisher to publish this script after the lawyer's long, clear and well-founded judgment.

Cissi Wallin believes that the publisher has turned around and that they have always known about the risk of slander. In her Instagram account, she writes that she "believes in freedom of speech, and no one in the book is named".

Cissi Wallin writes on Instagram that the book will be published by a publisher "who believes in freedom of expression for real".
