【Explanation】Recently, as the water level of the Xiaonan Seascape Area in Qianjiang District of Chongqing Municipality dropped, a large number of seismic rolling stones submerged in the lake all year round emerged from the water surface, forming a geological spectacle of densely packed rolling stones and boulders.

It is understood that Xiaonanhai is an alpine freshwater dammed lake integrating mountains, sea, islands, and gorges with an area of 2.87 square kilometers. It is currently the most well-preserved ancient earthquake site in China.

According to historical records, a local earthquake in 1856 caused more than 10 kilometers of mountain collapse, and 45 million cubic meters of sliding bodies moved westward by 2 kilometers, blocking the valley with a drop of nearly 100 meters, forming a dammed lake.

After that, whenever Xiaonanhai entered the dry season, the seismic rolling stones would rise to the surface. The diameter of the rolling stones is generally 1 to 5 meters, and the larger ones are more than 10 meters. Remains of broken rocks and cliffs, large and small rocks, etc., which were formed by the earthquake in that year, are also clearly visible.

Nowadays, the "seismic Tianchi" geological landscape formed by the earthquake not only attracts tourists to punch in, but also becomes the best material for the popularization and education of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction science popularization.
