China News Agency, Hong Kong, June 12 (Reporter Zhang Xiaoxi) The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Department of Health's Center for Health Protection reported on the 12th that as of 16:00 on the same day, Hong Kong added a new local confirmed case of new pneumonia. The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong so far is 1,108.
The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health announced on the same day that the newly confirmed case involved a 58-year-old female patient with good health in the past. She was a relative and close contact of a 34-year-old female patient and a 56-year-old male patient diagnosed on May 31. The three lived in Luquan Building, Liyuan Village, Shatian. On May 31, the patient had been placed in a quarantine center, had a fever while waiting for admission, and was sent to the hospital for testing on the same day.
It is reported that the patient's nasopharyngeal swab samples and throat swab samples taken on May 31 and June 1 were negative for the new coronavirus. She subsequently recovered from fever and was discharged from the hospital on June 2 and was transferred to the quarantine center again. No symptoms occurred during this period. On June 11, she submitted a sample of the deep throat saliva before the end of the quarantine and confirmed her infection with the new coronavirus. The patient is currently being treated in the hospital and is in stable condition.
Recently, local infections have occurred in Luquan Building and Lien Yue Building, Kwai Lian Village, Liyuan Village, Shatin, Hong Kong. The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health continued to actively follow up the epidemiological investigation and prevention of the cases. As of 16:00 on the 12th, a total of 1397 deep throat saliva sample bottles were recovered in Luquan Building, of which 1391 samples were tested for viruses. Except for the four confirmed positive cases announced on June 2, the remaining samples were tested against the new coronavirus Negative reaction; 2120 samples recovered and tested in Lian Yue Building, Kwai Lian Village, no samples were positive for the new coronavirus.
According to the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, as of 12:00 noon on the 12th, five patients with confirmed new pneumonia were discharged in the past 24 hours. A total of 1,060 patients with confirmed or suspected infection with new crown virus have been discharged. There are currently 44 patients diagnosed with new coronary pneumonia in eight hospitals.
