County museums, county theaters and orchestras have been hit hard by the corona pandemic, and several institutions have called for targeted support for the culture. This is now heard by the government and the cooperation parties.

-This is demanded by many regional players who are worried that their activities will not be prioritized in competition with others. If we do not safeguard cultural life in this difficult situation, much of our cultural infrastructure around the country risks disappearing and it would be incredibly unfortunate, says Minister of Culture and Sports Amanda Lind (MP) to TT.

Distributed by the State Culture Council

The money is to be distributed through the so-called cultural cooperation model, by the Swedish Arts Council. They are already responsible today for the distribution of grants to regional cultural activities. Some operations in Stockholm County, which are not included in the model, may also receive some of the money. Amanda Lind cannot answer how long they last.

-This sum is not tied to a specific period of time, it is an important addition to businesses that we know have been hit very hard. Since then, the government and the partnering parties have contributed 21 billion in general government grants, which should also be able to benefit cultural activities.

KLYS, which represents a unified voice for Sweden's professional cultural creators, called for a municipal crisis package at the beginning of June, but no such information is available at this time.
