The theme of the upcoming Boekenweek edition is Tweestrijd , organizer CPNB announced on Friday. 't Hooge Nest author Roxane van Iperen will write the accompanying essay that will be published that week.
It was previously announced that Hanna Bervoets writes the Book Week Gift.
"I am delighted to write the Boekenweek essay and to be able to represent the book trade and literature in the footsteps of literary greats such as Komrij, Dorrestein and Palmen", says Van Iperen about the essay she is going to write.
The writer and lawyer released 't Hooge Nest in 2018 , which won the OPZIJ Literature Prize 2019. The film rights to the true story, which is about the Jewish sisters Brilleslijper who were in the resistance during the Second World War, were bought by Carice van Houten and Halina Reijn.
According to CPNB director Eveline Aendekerk, the theme of 'two battles' has become very topical due to the corona crisis.

86th Book Week starts March 6, 2021
The 86th Book Week will take place from March 6 to 14, 2021.
This year the gift was written by Annejet van der Zijl and the essay by Özcan Akyol.
