  • In the wake of Christophe Castaner's announcements against police violence, including the abandonment of a technique of criticized criticism, several police officers expressed their dissatisfaction in this period of strong tensions on the subject.
  • On Twitter, a video relayed by several accounts claims to show "young people who are no longer let go" during a muscular arrest.
  • If the sequence is authentic, it was actually filmed on May 29, and therefore has no connection with the current context.

While the police have expressed their dissatisfaction in recent days at the announcements of the Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castaner, on "zero tolerance" against racism in the police and the abandonment of certain measures - such as the grab by the neck -, some Internet users are delighted to see citizens resist the police in this context of mistrust.

“Faced with police violence, young people no longer allow themselves to be done. This scene takes place in Orleans, we see a policeman who tries to place a neck key from behind to a young man who visibly presented no threat, "said a tweet relaying a video also taken up on social networks with comments. alike.

The 30-second footage shows police officers chatting with a man near a stationary car when a second person suddenly exits the vehicle. Another member of the police force then seizes him by the back and tries to immobilize him at the level of the neck, without success, before delivering a punch and receiving some in return. The images end with the man's flight, which thus seems to escape his arrest.

FAKE OFF

This video was filmed in Orleans, but last month, as confirmed by the information and communication service of the national police (Sicop) at 20 Minutes  : “This control took place on May 29 with individuals who were driving open grave in the city center. Once arrested, they got out of the car, very intoxicated, and the police were unable to check in according to the usual procedure, which is to get people out one by one. "

As we can see in the images, the situation then became worse, but, contrary to what suggests the end of the sequence, the person who struggled was arrested. "The check resulted in four police custody for drunk driving, lack of driving license, contempt and violence, as well as four summons by judicial police officer," said Sicop.

The video therefore has nothing to do with the current context of tensions within the police or the recent announcements by Christophe Castaner. On the other hand, the day of this arrest, the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis (Minnesota), was already making the headlines in France and had put the debate around police violence on the front of the media scene.
