Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams in Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. - Elizabeth Viggiano / NETFLIX

“My wife is Swedish and the first time I went to Sweden was in 1999 to visit one of her cousins. One evening, he said to us: "Let's watch Eurovision!" I had no idea what it was, ”said Will Ferrell to 20 Minutes two years ago. Unlike the vast majority of Americans, the actor has since acquired a good knowledge of the song contest.

So much so that he inspired a film for him, which he produced and in which he played. The feature film, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga , will be released on June 26 on Netflix. In the meantime, the platform unveiled the trailer this Thursday.

Icelandic duo

In this comedy, Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams play Lars and Sigrid, a duo of Icelanders propelled on the Eurovision scene to defend the chances of their country. Judging by the trailer, they will have to overcome a lot of obstacles, starting with the freshness of the support of their compatriots and the provocations of the favorite, the Russian singer Alexander Lemtov (played by Dan Stevens), against them.

The film, directed by David Dobkin, was shot last year between Iceland and Israel. Some scenes were filmed in Tel Aviv as part of the real competition.
