The state of health emergency lifted on July 10

The end of the state of health emergency has been declared for July 10, but a transitional period of four months could follow, during which restrictions will remain possible. Given the improvement in health conditions, "it was not justified to extend the state of health emergency" decided on March 23 and already extended once until July 10, decided on Wednesday the Council of Ministers, according to government spokesperson Sibeth Ndiaye.

A new crisis budget faced with a dizzying recession

About 45 billion euros to support the most vulnerable sectors while the recession looks terrible with a fall in GDP of 11%: the government presented Wednesday in the Council of Ministers a new crisis budget. This is the third amending finance bill (PLFR) drawn up since the start of the crisis, never seen before.

"All the sums which are devoted to this response to the economic crisis represent, with this PLFR 3, 460 billion euros, that is 20% of the French national wealth", specified the Minister of Economy Bruno The Mayor after the Council of Ministers.

800,000 jobs cut in the coming months?

The government expects the economic crisis will lead to the loss of "800,000 jobs", said Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire on Wednesday, referring to "a considerable shock". "Our assessment is that in the coming months we will have the loss of 800,000 jobs, that is to say 2.8% of total employment," he said during a hearing before the Finance Committee of the National Assembly. The results of salaried employment in the first quarter are announced Thursday morning.

29,319 dead in France, new drop in intensive care

The total number of coronavirus deaths has now risen to 29,319 in France since the start of the epidemic, including 18,935 in hospital. As of Wednesday evening, 933 people were still in intensive care, 22 fewer in the past 24 hours. Currently, 11,678 people are hospitalized for coronavirus infection, compared to 13,514 last Wednesday.

The data concerning the Ehpad and other establishments or social or medico-social services (ESMS) were updated Tuesday for the first time since June 2: according to the last assessment, France counts 10.384 deaths of residents in ESMS (against 10.350 last Tuesday ).

Over 412,000 dead worldwide

The pandemic has killed at least 412,926 people worldwide since its onset in December in China, according to an assessment by AFP from official sources Wednesday evening. Nearly 7.3 million cases have been officially diagnosed in 196 countries and territories.

The United States is the most affected country, with 112,402 deaths. This is followed by the United Kingdom with 40,883 dead, Brazil (38,406), Italy (34,114) and France (29,319).
