The cultural contractor's companies have made an average of 1.6 million per year, according to the latest five annual reports, and have averaged assets of 18.7 million each year. At the same time, the person is deemed to be in need of cultural grants, and has received the maximum amount of his state income guarantee, which amounted to SEK 19,000 per month in 2019.

Over the past five years, the contractor has received almost SEK 900,000 in pre-tax subsidies. Money that would otherwise have gone to pension-based long-term scholarships for artists.

“Sees it as a reward”

The entrepreneur himself says that they are doing well financially because the company is profitable, but have not understood that the state income guarantee should function as "financial security for those who make a prominent contribution but still have difficulties in supply". (Prop.1975 / 76: 135)

- I have never heard that it would be for the needy but have seen it as a reward for a cultural act.

Not known that it is a support aid

The contractor, on the other hand, knows that the income guarantee is tested against the taxed income. If you earn more than SEK 236,500 in one year, the contribution will not be fully paid.

But you didn't think it had anything to do with it?

- No, I haven't really thought about that.

Some checks for corporate activities are not made by the Chamber of Commerce - which decides on a state income guarantee.

The cultural contractor thus receives a maximum contribution, as long as they do not receive salary or dividend from their company, in full compliance with the rules. This is despite the fact that the money is intended for those who have difficulties in supply.

Do you see any problems when you, as a successful cultural creator, receive the money?

- Not really. The state has wanted me to receive the salary guarantee.

The entrepreneur does not say that he has known that the state aid is financed with tax funds, but that he believed that the money comes from the public inheritance fund, which is not true.

After the Cultural News contacted the contractor for an interview, the Chamber College announced to them that they no longer wanted to receive the income guarantee.
