  On the same day, Chen Fan wrote a written reply to the questions of the members of the Legislative Council of the Special Administrative Region, saying that from June last year to May this year, a total of 740 sets of traffic lights in Hong Kong were damaged to varying degrees, about 60 kilometers of railings were removed, and at least 177 were installed in CCTV cameras in government facilities and public areas were damaged. About 22,000 square meters of footpath bricks were demolished. At the same time, about 1,320 trash cans and 130 recyclable waste recycling bins were damaged.

  Chen Fan said that the relevant government departments have installed protective nets on traffic lights at some major intersections, temporarily attached rubber chains where the railings were removed, and improved the design when repairing the railings, including strengthening the railing joints. The Highways Department has also installed temporary protective fences on some public footbridges to prevent people from throwing objects from the footbridges to nearby roads.

  He said that if there is any illegal violence or disruption of public safety and public order, the police will decisively enforce the law and will not condone it. In order to strengthen the fight against crimes, the police will deploy appropriate manpower to take all feasible and legal measures to prevent and detect crimes according to operational needs, especially in cases of serious violence and serious casualties.
