A US study conducted by "23 and Me", which is specialized in conducting genetic tests, revealed that people with blood type O are more protected from infection with Corona virus.

According to the American "Fox News" network, the company started its study, in which 750,000 people participated, in April, as it used genetic tests to help scientists better understand the role of genetic factors in infection with the Corona virus.

The study was trying to solve the mystery of the difference in symptoms that appear on people who are infected with Corona virus, and its difference between severe, slight and moderate, until the results showed that the blood type and other genetic factors play a role in this regard.

The company "23 & Me", Monday, in a statement on an Internet blog, said that "the preliminary data of the study provides more evidence on the importance of a person's blood group in responding to the Corona virus or not."

She added that "the results of the study remained constant even with the change in age, gender, body mass index, ethnicity and disease history of the participants," noting "slight differences between other blood types."

"There are reports of links between Covid 19 disease caused by the Coruna virus, blood clotting and cardiovascular disease," said lead author Adam Otton, noting that "these reports provided some hints for genes that may be related to the subject."

But Oton stressed that "it is too early to tell whether there are genetic factors related to the disease in light of the scarcity of studies conducted in this field," saying that "the scientific community needs more research to answer many questions in this regard."

Last March, a Chinese study found that those who belong to blood type O may be more resistant to coronavirus, while people who belong to blood type A may be at greater risk of contracting the disease.
